After nine years in the health and fitness industry personal training, I craved a new challenge while still wanting to help whānau. Transitioning to Te Korowai Hauora o Hauraki Whanau Ora Navigation service felt like the right move. This opportunity led to Healthy Families position at Te Korowai for Healthy Families Te Ngira, I was to become the kaitiaki of the position for a respected friend, Hinemoana, it was daunting but exciting.

My background in sports, including rugby, rugby league, and touch rugby, instilled in me a deep understanding of movement and play. However, it was my own sports-related injuries that sparked a passion for preventative health. I saw an opportunity to utilize my skills and experiences to prevent injuries and chronic diseases on a broader scale.

Joining the Healthy Families system innovation was a natural progression. It allowed me to apply my expertise in promoting preventative health measures. My goal is to empower rohe and whanau to lead healthier lives. This career shift represents more than just a change—it's a commitment to making a lasting impact on community well-being.
