Improving Whānau Health and wellbeing where they Live, Learn, Work & Play

ePānui - 23/08/2024

PODCAST: Mental Health - “Can we talk… for a minute.”

Event Date: 01/07/2024

Healthy Families - Te Ngira are excited to share the story behind the creation of their mental health podcast, a collaborative effort that aims to empower our community and enhance our understanding of mental health.

The initiative began with Systems Lead, Tania Bidois, who recognized a significant gap in accessible mental health knowledge. Working alongside mental health practitioners, Whānau Ora Navigators, Community Leaders, Whatu Ora, Takarangi, and Wairuatanga. Tania identified a common challenge: the lack of straightforward, relatable resources for both practitioners and whānau.

In response to this need, Tania partnered with Tainui Live to develop a podcast that brings together the rich expertise of their collaborators. Her goal is to provide insights and practical advice, helping viewers feel supported and reminding them that they are not alone in their experiences.

As we approach Mental Health Month, Tania was inspired by the theme of activity and action. She wanted the podcast to be a platform for education and connection, where they could uplift the community and encourage open conversations about mental health.

Through this project, they aim to empower the practitioners and whānau, fostering a deeper understanding of mental health issues and promoting a culture of support.

Join Tania and her team on this journey as they work towards breaking down barriers and creating a more informed, understanding and compassionate community. Stay tuned for the release of this awesome kaupapa.
